PROJECT ACTIVITIES
Jämin Jänne Inc. has obtained Leader + financing to investigate on the opportunities to internationalize the ski activities of the young of the Jämijärvi area. The project aims at finding out whether there are any German, Czech or other ski associations, which might have activities with the young and be interested in cooperating with Jämin Jänne in the field of camping and competitions organized for the young.
Project Plan:
Pre-research project aiming at the internationalization of the ski activities in the Jämijärvi region
The target group: 10-16-year old skiers of the North-Satakunta Region.
The background and the reason of the project:
In the regional and national winter games, skiers are numerous in different age groups. They may be 20 or more in the category of the 12-year old (Junnu-Cup).
Only very few of them go on competing after the age of 14, as the distances become longer and other things fill the minds of the young and take them away from skiing to other more attractive free time activities.
Actually, it would be important to ensure that the 12-16-year old skiers would keep on skiing. They should be encouraged to go on skiing so that there would be still in ten years and later many boys and girls enthusiastic for skiing.
Targets:
- The young will be encouraged to skiing, and measures will be taken to prevent the young from abandoning skiing at the critical age by creating international contacts with other skiing young of the same age group.
- The cooperation plan with foreign countries, which will facilitate the continuation with activities, training camps and competitions after the end of the project, will be explained to the active skiers of the club.
- The existing resources of the region will be exploited, and new demand will be created to have new services. Activities will aim at increasing the attractiveness of the Jämi area as the central ski area of South Finland.
- A part-time manager will be hired for the project. Purchased services will also be used to find out suitable cooperation partners to start international cooperation with Germans, Estonians, Slovakians and Czechs, for example.
Schedule:
The project covers the period from July 1st to December 31, 2005.
